Mahmood represents an exclusive rare breed of singer/songwriters to emerge out of Asia who, amongst extreme difficulties, kept their art alive and dedicated a lifetime to celebrate the resilience and adaptability of the human spirit. An experienced sound engineer, producer, writer, lyricist and performer, he has pioneered the fusion sound and has continually brought hope to his niche listeners around the world with his spiritual pop oriented songwriting and philosophy. 
Born in Pakistan to parents who migrated from India after the 1947 war, he wrote songs at an early age and started off as an assistant sound engineer in Los Angeles at a company that was a hub for the R&B, Rap, hip hop and Funk genres. Jam Power Productions, led by visionary Tom Berry, was based in Northridge, California and was home to producers Chuckii Booker, Livio Harris, Damon Thomas, Budd Ford and Ronni Van among many others. His first break in LA came when his song won the Los Angeles songwriters showcase, setting him up with a gig with veteran music producer George Tobin. 
The numerous skills he possesses, ranging from crafting melodies, lyrics, sound engineering and mixing, music production, understanding of the music industry, film making and knowledge of different aspects of the recording business, all converge to make him an aware musician. This in turn develops the songwriter that propels the singer which eventually transforms into humanity within him. 

In 1997 he recorded an album 'Only One' with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan that was released in India thru Magna Sound. Songs from the album were pirated into the Hindi Film 'kartoos'.
More recently he created his MKF brand of new music. MKF is a 12 member Australian band created by Mahmood Khan. They recorded their debut album at the Sydney Opera house on March 14th 2009 and within a matter of months achieved secure ground in the music world. The first single 'Like the River' made its debut at number 3 on ARIA charts before securing the number one spot  He is an inspiring example of a true independent ‘digitally’ powered Artist.His contribution to the music world is being recognized, and many in the industry think he's always been ahead of his time. He made music history and became the first singer/songwriter from the Indian Sub Continent to perform all original songs at the Sydney Opera House on March 14th 2009.

His voice and melodies have touched many and continues to evolve as a musician inventing genres like 'Modern folk' and 'Pop/world'.

 He signifies persistence and has kept his passion alive amidst all sorts of difficulties and challenges.

 The Lyricist

The evolution of his lyrics over time is a reward for sticking to his passion.  Now he writes about the uncovering of life’s mysteries and all the emotion his experience gives birth to. The dealings with fear and his friendship with hope, courage, inspiration, luck and the higher source, has provided a secure platform where he can be one with himself allowing the energy to flow through him smoothly.

His audience is made up of music lovers looking for something that sounds 'different' and has enormous amounts of 'feel'. These are people all around the world who want to experience top quality spiritually oriented music and a provision of hope that inspires them to 'make the best out of any situation'. His audience is made up of several cultures and is the emerging new market previously untapped. This is the 'Aware' audience.
