The band MALABAR consists of two members; Govind Menon and Varun Sunil. Govind come from a family of musicians while Varun is a first generation musician. They have played together informally for over two years but as a band over the last year. They have performed live extensively on stage and TV. Over the last year they have won major talent awards playing together as a band.
Their forte is melody backed by strong grooves. While Govind generally plays on the electric Violin, he is also the band’s programmer and composer. Varun plays a variety of percussion instruments like the Thumba, the triple congas, the djembe, darbuka, Chenda, bongos etc.
They play apart from their own compositions, popular songs from films. They have cut their teeth backing singers in reality shows where it is often impossible to forecast what song will need to be played.
They are prolific composers and if their music is up your alley then visit this site as often as possible so you can to hear their latest stuff. Live performance is their forte so please do not hesitate to call if you would like them to perform to your group, association, town or city.
